The world’s best women’s amateur golfers are heading back down Magnolia Lane.

The fifth Augusta National Women’s Amateur tees off this week with 47 of the top 50 players in the women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking dreaming of hoisting the trophy on the 18th green.

The field of 72 – 36 Americans and 36 Internationals – will play two rounds of stroke play at nearby Champions Retreat Golf Club on Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, with the top 30 players advancing to the final round on Saturday, April 6. The entire field will play Augusta National for a practice round Friday, April 5.

Meet the field: Americans competing at ANWA

Yuna Araki

Age: 18
Hometown: Kumamoto, Japan
ANWA history: Second appearance

The 2023 Toyota Junior World Cup individual champion will make her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. She advanced to the final round in her debut last year, finishing T-9 with a closing 73 at Augusta National.

Kajsa Arwefjall

Age: 23
Hometown: Tranas, Sweden
Education: San Jose State, fifth-year
ANWA history: Second appearance

She has five top-10 finishes this season, including runner-up in the Molly Collegiate Invitational last fall and sixth in the Silicon Valley Showcase in March. In 2023, she earned Second Team All-America honors as a senior, finished runner-up in an LET Access Series event in Sweden, reached the quarterfinals of the Women’s Amateur Championship in England and represented Sweden in the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Carla Bernat Escuder

Age: 20

She has three top-three finishes this season, winning the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational last fall and finishing third in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in February and the MountainView Collegiate in March.

Helen Briem

ANWA history: Second appearance

The 2023 R&A Girls’ Amateur champion will make her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. Last August at Ganton Golf Club in England, she defeated Spain’s Martina Navarro in the final by a record 12-and-10 margin to become Germany’s first winner in the 104-year history of the R&A Girls’ Amateur.

Hannah Darling

Darling finished T-27 in 2022 and missed advancing to the final round in 2023 by one stroke. She has three top-10 finishes this season, including her first collegiate win in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on March 6 and runner-up in the Valspar Augusta Invitational on March 10.

Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio

Garcia-Poggio finished fourth in her debut last year and her final-round 71 at Augusta National included birdies at Nos. 7, 9, 15, 17 and 18. She has three top-15 finishes this season, including 11th in the Carmel Cup and T-12 in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup last fall.

Francesca Fiorellini

In March, she won the Italian Women’s Match Play for the third time in the past four years and reached the Round of 16 in the Spanish Women’s Amateur. She was stroke-play medalist in both championships.

In March 2023 in Singapore, she won the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific by five strokes over Minsol Kim and joined 2018 champion Atthaya Thitikul as winners representing Thailand.

Charlotte Heath

Maddison Hinson-Tolchard

Hinson-Tolchard has six top-20 finishes this season, including T-7 in the Schooner Fall Classic and T-9 in the Carmel Cup last fall and T-14 in the Valspar Augusta Invitational in March. Also in 2023, she earned First Team All-America honors as a junior, won the Big 12 Conference Women’s Championship and finished fourth in the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Individual Championship.

The 2023 Women’s Amateur champion will make her Augusta National Women’s Amateur debut. Last June at Prince’s Golf Club in England, she defeated Annabelle Pancake of the United States, 7 and 6, to join a list of champions that includes Babe Zaharias, Louise Suggs, Anna Nordqvist, Georgia Hall, Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire. She defeated World No. 1 Ingrid Lindblad in the semifinals to advance to the final.

Saori Iijima

Age: 18
Hometown: Mito-shi, Japan
ANWA history: First appearance

Last June, she defeated two players by one stroke to join a list of champions that includes former World No. 1 Ai Miyazato, LPGA Tour winner Mika Miyazato and Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific champion Yuka Yasuda. She has three top-25 finishes in 2024, including seventh in the Australian Women’s Amateur in January and T-18 in the Queen Sirikit Cup in New Zealand in March.

The 2023 Canadian Women’s Amateur champion will make her Augusta National Women’s Amateur debut. Andrea Lignell

Age: 23

She advanced to the final round in her debut last year, finishing third at Augusta National. She has three top-20 finishes this season, including T-9 in the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship last fall. Also in 2023, she earned First Team All-America honors as a senior and reached the Round of 64 in the U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Ingrid Lindblad

The four-time First Team All-American at LSU will make her fourth Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. She finished T-3 in 2021 and T-2 in 2022 at Augusta National and was one stroke behind the champion in both years. Two years ago, her final-round 68 was the low round of the 2022 championship and included eagles at Nos. 8 and 15 and birdies at Nos. 3, 7 and 14.

Carolina Lopez Chacarra

ANWA history: Fourth appearance

She has five top-15 finishes this season, including third in both the Schooner Fall Classic and Jackson T. Stephens Cup last fall. Also in 2023, she helped Wake Forest win the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship and, for the second consecutive year, earned Second Team All-America honors.

Julia Lopez Ramirez

The 2023 European Ladies’ Amateur champion will make her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. Last July in Sweden, she birdied her final three holes in the final round to win by two strokes over Carla Bernat and join a list of champions that includes Carlota Ciganda, Celine Boutier and Ingrid Lindblad.

Caitlyn Macnab

She has advanced to the final round in each of the past two years, finishing 11th in 2022 and T-9 in 2023. In 2022, her final-round 72 at Augusta National included an eagle at No. 15 and birdies at Nos. 6 and 12.

The 2023 U.S. Girls’ Junior runner-up will make her Augusta National Women’s Amateur debut. Last year at the United States Air Force Academy’s Eisenhower Golf Club in Colorado, she advanced to the final before finishing runner-up to Kiara Romero, 1 down. She has four top-eight finishes in 2024, including a win in the Women’s Australian Master of the Amateurs in January and runner-up in the Girls’ Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in South Carolina in March.

Maria Jose Marin

The 2024 South American Women’s Amateur champion will make her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. Last year, she became the first South American golfer to advance to the final round at Augusta National and finished T-14. The University of Arkansas freshman has seven top-20 finishes this season, including a win in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.

Paula Martin Sampedro

Age: 18

Education: Stanford, freshman

She has top-seven finishes in each of her six starts this season, including runner-up in the Pac-12 Preview in February, third in the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational in March and T-4 in the Jackson T. Stephens Cup last fall.

Hinano Muguruma

Muguruma advanced to the final round at Augusta National last year, finishing T-22. She finished T-16 in the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific in Thailand in February. In 2023, she competed in nine professional events in Japan, finishing T-5 in the LPGA of Japan’s Step Up Tour’s Twinfields Ladies Tournament.

Kokoro Nakamura

The 2023 Japan Girls’ Junior champion will make her Augusta National Women’s Amateur debut. Last August on Kasumigaseki Country Club’s West Course, she made nine birdies in her closing 64 to turn a four-stroke deficit into a four-stroke victory over Japan Women’s Amateur champion Saori Iijima. She joined a list of winners that includes former World No. 1 Ai Miyazato and 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion Tsubasa Kajitani.

Meja Ortengren

Avani Prashanth

The 2023 Queen Sirikit Cup champion will make her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. She advanced to the final round at Augusta National in her debut in 2022, finishing T-21. Last year in the Philippines, she won the individual title in the Queen Sirikit Cup by 10 strokes to join a list of champions that includes Yani Tseng, So Yeon Ryu, Hyo Joo Kim and Atthaya Thitikul.

Andrea Revuelta

She won the Spanish Women’s Amateur in March after defeating France’s Sara Brentcheneff in the final, 2 and 1. She joined a list of champions that includes Catherine Lacoste, Catriona Matthew, Carlota Ciganda, Caroline Masson, Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio and Nora Sundberg.

Louise Rydqvist

She has five top-12 finishes this season, including a win in the 2023 Annika Intercollegiate, fourth in the 2024 San Diego State Classic and T-5 in the 2023 Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship. In addition, she went 3-0-0 in the 2024 Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

Mamika Shinchi

In January, she won the Australian Women’s Amateur by two strokes. Entering the final round six strokes off the lead, she birdied eight of her last 11 holes to close with 66 and the low round of the championship. Joined a list of champions that includes Lydia Ko and Minjee Lee.

The 2022 Japan Women’s Amateur champion will make her second Augusta National Women’s Amateur appearance. Entering that week as 1,479th in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, she went on to hold at least a share of the lead after all four rounds and win by six strokes. With her victory, she moved up 1,236 places in her ranking and joined a list of champions that includes her favorite golfer, former World No. 1 Ai Miyazato.

Mirabel Ting

After starting 2024 with a victory in the Women’s Orlando International Amateur in January, she has recorded top-seven finishes in each of her first four stroke-play starts for Florida State, including a win in the Valspar Augusta Invitational in March. She also went 2-1-0 in the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play in South Carolina on March 25-26.

Lottie Woad

In February, she won the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific in Thailand by two strokes over Korea’s Hyosong Lee. She set new championship records for lowest score for 72 holes, 54 holes, first-36 and middle-36 holes and for largest lead after three rounds. She also joined 2018 champion Atthaya Thitikul as the only players to win while holding at least a share of the lead after all four rounds.

Suzuna Yokoyama

In 2023, she finished seventh in the Japan Women’s Amateur and made the cut in three of her four starts on the LPGA of Japan Tour, including the Japan Women’s Open. She has also finished fifth in the 2022 Kanto Women’s Amateur and T-9 in the 2021 Japan Girls’ Junior Championship.

Rin Yoshida

She advanced to the final round in her debut in 2022, finishing 20th. In 2023, she recorded three top-25 finishes in professional events in Japan and reached the Round of 32 in the U.S. Women’s Amateur.
