Vinicius‘ strong condemnation of racism in Spanish football quickly became a matter of global discussion.

In fact, it wasn’t long before the subject entered the Manchester City press room. Pep Guardiola was asked if LaLiga could learn something from the Premier League.

After a straightforward “they should”, he took the opportunity to speak in depth on the subject.

“Here they are very strict about it. Racism is not a problem in one specific place, but all over the world,” he said.

“We think our country and languages are better than others, but the more you travel and get to know, you realise that we are all the same.

“Maybe this is an opportunity for Spain to take a small step forward, but I’m not very optimistic,” Guardiola concluded with a certain amount of dismay on his face.
