Manchester City have a huge chance to make club history in the coming days as they take on Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10.

On the back of winning the Premier League and FA Cup titles, City can match Manchester United’s 1999 treble win, if they get past Inter and secure a first ever Champions League title.

Pep Guardiola’s side have passed each test on the road to Istanbul and big game experience will be vital to City’s chances of success.

The bulk of Guardiola’s 2021 beaten finalists will start in Turkey, with Ilkay Gundogan starting his third Champions League final, after losing out with Borussia Dortmund in 2013.

Who is Man City captain?

Gundogan was confirmed as City’s club captain at the start of the 2022/23 season, following a squad vote, after the 2022 departure of Fernandinho. But Guardiola has a ‘captains group’ which includes five players.

Who lifted the Premier League, FA Cup trophies in 2023?

Kyle Walker – one of those players – was named as the matchday captain, as City lifted the Premier League trophy, after their 1-0 home win over Chelsea on May 21.

However, Gundogan joined the squad at full time, with the German international picking up the trophy as well.

On the back of a superb end to the season, with four league goals in his last three appearances, Gundogan scored twice in City’s 2-1 FA Cup final win over Manchester United, before he picked up the trophy at Wembley Stadium.
